Our presenter is a dear personal friend, my first brain injury advocate and is coming all the way from North Carolina to join us!
Karen Keating is the Asheville Office Regional Coordinator of the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina. She is also the caregiver for her son who sustained a TBI. This project was born from a National Geographic article. The mission of Unmasking Bran Injuries is:
• Promote awareness of the prevalence of brain injury
• Give survivors a voice and a means to educate others about what it is like to live with a brain injury
• Show others that people living with a disability are like anyone else, deserving of dignity, respect, compassion and the opportunity to prove their value as citizens in their communities
There’s a story behind every mask and behind every mask there’s a person, a person that’s been touched by brain injury. The masks and materials will be provided.
